Three problems.
One system.
Nature heals.

When Nature Heals, Our Dignity Grows

A Viridian has a legal trigger. A farmer has land that needs to heal. A Mama has a community waiting for dignified infrastructure. The Living Tower is the architecture that connects these needs through one simple discipline: evidence first, then release, under the governing agreements and the published Cycle Notice.

Why the system exists

Three problems
solving each other

No single problem funds itself. The Living Tower exists because each party's need can solve another party's problem, but only if proof is disciplined and roles are clear.

Viridians
Viridian · Corporate Compliance

A legal trigger requires real restoration, not a cheque.

Your legal trigger requires real, verifiable ecological restoration, not a cheque to a charity. This page shows how proof is generated, how it is checked under the governing agreements, and how the record set is organised for audit.

Read the detail

In many jurisdictions, environmental duties and reporting obligations require defensible evidence. These duties may include environmental impact assessment requirements and climate-related disclosures. A Viridian cannot pay into a charity and call it done. They need verifiable, standards-aligned, geographically mapped restoration evidence that can withstand scrutiny from external reviewers and regulators.

Evidence packs are organised, sealed with a digital fingerprint, and checked against acceptance lines defined before work begins.
Farmers
Farmer · Land Restoration

The land is bleeding. Thirty years of reports. No solutions.

You do the work. You show the proof. You get paid, and the assets you build stay on your land. This page shows who does what, how the HektoBag fills, and exactly when the money moves.

Read the detail

An erosion scar does not heal itself. The farmer knows this. They have watched gullies widen for thirty years and been handed consultants' reports that sit in a drawer. They need trained workers doing the work correctly, verified independently, paid fairly, and assets that stay on the farm when the project ends.

Accepted proof is the trigger. No accepted proof means no release. No upfront restoration cost to the farmer under the standard programme terms, unless a Schedule for a specific programme states otherwise.
MamaDEX
Mama · Community Infrastructure

The most important infrastructure has no infrastructure.

You are the routing authority no algorithm can replace. This page shows how your centre connects the land work, the training, and the evidence, and how money flows back into the infrastructure your community deserves.

She has been opening the door for nineteen years on borrowed hope. She identifies who is ready. She routes the right person to the right work. She is the most important human intelligence in this system, and she has no power module, no clean water, no library, no EduTower Studio. She is waiting for the infrastructure her intelligence deserves.

Local capability is supported through published programme rules, with consent and safeguarding treated as non-negotiable.
The Architecture

Four pillars. One foundation. One roof.

Select any part of the tower to see exactly what it does, what evidence it produces, and why it cannot be corrupted.

The Living Tower: four classical stone columns labelled Farmers, MamaDEX, Reporters, EduTower, rising from the Tika Standard foundation slab, topped by the Eco Guild entablature and the Buktika golden flag

The Living Tower is a layered system. Proof holds it steady. Nothing moves by opinion.

Living Tower
The Architecture

The Living Tower

The Living Tower has six parts. Each has a precise job in the evidence and payment chain. Nothing moves without proof. Select any part of the tower, or tap a name in the tabs, to see exactly what it does.

Every part has one job. None can be skipped.
  • The Buktika Tika Standard governs the acceptance boundary: no proof, no claim, no payment
  • Farmers do the land work, verified by independent Fellows before it counts
  • MamaDEX routes people, assembles evidence packs, receives payment for verified evidence produced
  • Reporters create verified documentary evidence that makes proof legible to any board
  • EduTower trains Keepers and Fellows, the knowledge layer that makes the work honest
  • The Eco Guild governs the district, fair rules, written down, unchangeable at night

Nature does not run on promises. It runs on structure, feedback, and proof. A forest survives because each layer supports the layer above it. The Living Tower follows the same pattern — the evidence chain and acceptance gates hold the system steady, so funding can only move when proof exists.

Buktika
The System

Buktika

Buktika connects degraded land that wants to heal with people who need dignified work. Payment is governed by evidence: proof is required before any release, under the governing agreements and the published Cycle Notice.

See exactly what proof-before-release means in practice.
  • Not a charity. Not a programme. A settlement architecture for verified work.
  • The Viridian funds the system. The farmer heals the land. The Mama builds the community. Releases follow accepted proof under the governing agreements and the published Cycle Notice.
  • Record retention for the minimum period stated in the governing agreements. Tika-governed acceptance gates. Independent review pathways sit outside ordinary Buktika management.
Eco Guild
Governance Roof

Eco Guild

The Eco Guild sits at the top of the tower. It is the farmers' table. It coordinates restoration corridors across fence lines, sets the fairness rules that nobody can rewrite at night, and holds the whole system accountable to itself.

Read the rules. Then see who sets them.
  • Strategic restoration corridors planned across multiple farms and fence lines simultaneously
  • Bonus rules written down, short, easy to check, new entrant reserve, area share, taper, cap
  • Meets on a published schedule. Farmers govern farmers. No external authority controls the table.
  • Significant hectares pledged across the Eastern Cape and nationally, with further commitments in progress.

Farmers
The Land Pillar

Farmers

The farmer is where restoration actually happens. Keepers, trained and certified field workers, place brush packs, plant spekboom, stabilise gullies, and restore watercourses. Every action photographed from fixed GPS points, logged, and verified by an independent Fellow before it counts.

What verification actually looks like on the ground.
  • Keepers trained over 12 weeks in field method, safety, and evidence discipline
  • Geo-tagged photographs from fixed GPS points form the primary evidence record
  • Verified proof is what allows the HektoBag record to be updated under the published rules.
  • Assets built, fencing, erosion works, plantings, stay on the farmer's land permanently

MamaDEX
The Community Pillar

MamaDEX

The Mama is the most sophisticated human intelligence in the system, the routing authority that no algorithm replaces. She has nineteen years of knowing who is ready, who needs the farm and who needs a screen. MamaDEX centres connect the township to the land, screen and place Keepers and Fellows, and assemble the evidence packs that make payment possible.

Nineteen years of knowing. Here is what she does with it.
  • Screens Keeper and Fellow candidates, routes the right person to the right work, not the nearest warm body
  • Manages evidence pack assembly, daily logs, and periodic sign-off under the published schedule
  • Receives payment for verified evidence produced, not charity, not a stipend
  • The EduTower Studio is built at the MamaDEX site, infrastructure that stays in the community

Reporters
The Story Pillar

Reporters

Honest story is not marketing, it is evidence that makes the evidence legible. To the Viridian's board, to the foundation trustee, to the CFO who needs to explain why this is real. Buktika Reporters create verified documentary content: accepted photographs, short films, and storybooks that carry the same evidence discipline as the restoration records themselves.

How a photograph becomes proof a boardroom accepts.
  • All story content is governed by the same Tika evidence and consent boundaries as field records
  • Consent documented, not assumed. Community dignity is non-negotiable.
  • Films and storybooks accompany ECO and MDX packs, proof made human, proof that survives a boardroom
See the Reporters programme
EduTower
The Knowledge Pillar

EduTower

The EduTower Studio is a solar-powered learning node built at the MamaDEX site, the last mile a bursary ladder cannot reach. Grade 12 to PhD via EduVisa from a shipping container in the Karoo. The Fellow who writes rejection notes in the morning studies toward a postgraduate qualification in the afternoon. Both in the same space, under the same evidence discipline.

Six gates before a single student enters. See why.
  • Four tracks: Foundation learning, EduVisa academic pathway, Keeper field discipline, Fellow verification
  • Always-on satellite link, the Studio does not go dark when the grid fails
  • Six commissioning gates before a single student enters, power, water, connectivity, safety, evidence pipeline, safeguarding
  • The first thing the investment builds, because without the knowledge layer, the rest serves a broken person

Tika Standard
The Correctness Standard

Tika Standard

The Buktika Tika Standard is our documented evidence and claims governance framework — the reason a Viridian in Frankfurt can buy an evidence pack assembled in a Karoo township and assess what is in it. Tika defines what may be truthfully claimed. Tekmerion proves whether the claim can stand. The acceptance gates cannot be captured by politics. A politician cannot change an acceptance pack. A municipality cannot redirect a HektoBag. The Tika Standard is the firewall.

Version-controlled, lane-bound, and organised for audit.
  • The Tika Standard is version-controlled. Every Evidence Pack identifies the exact STS version under which it was produced, together with the evidence period, claim boundary, and proof trail. It governs four lanes: Eco Conservation, Eco Restoration, MDX Human Restoration, and EDU Education — each with its own evidence requirements and permitted claim boundary.
  • Developed under the professional responsibility of a named methodology owner and accountable technical author: Herman J van der Merwe, PrEng, CPEng (NZ).
  • Designed for auditor readability and mapped to relevant ISO assurance routes: ISO 9001, ISO 14064-2/3, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 27001.
  • Independent ecological and assurance review pathways are documented. Records are retained for the minimum period stated in governing agreements and organised for audit.

How the Money Moves

Two streams. One rule: proof first.

A farmer earns in two ways. Both require accepted proof. Neither pays on promises. Here is how each stream works, in plain language.

Stream 1, Works payments (the main income)

This is the primary, direct payment for restoration work completed on the farm. It starts the moment the Viridian loads the secure project fund and never requires the optional environmental method to be active.

The Viridian loads the fund

A company with a legal restoration duty, the Viridian, signs the Funding and Payment Control Agreement (D-7) and funds a secure project fund for the programme. The platform fee and programme wallet allocations for the period are applied as published in the Cycle Notice. No release occurs until accepted proof is recorded.

Funding committed under D-7 and the Cycle Notice, with releases tied to accepted proof.

BESCO maps the work

Before work begins, the baseline and the acceptance checks are defined for the programme. The method, the required evidence, and the acceptance gates are recorded up front so nobody can change the rules after the fact.

Baseline recorded, method defined, acceptance gates set before work begins.

Farmer (or contractor) does the work

Work is done by the farmer, an owner-appointed contractor, or a programme-appointed contractor, depending on the chosen delivery mode. The same evidence rules apply to everyone. Work is photographed from named points, logged, and prepared for acceptance.

Named photo points, mapped locations, daily records, method followed.

Evidence pack assembled and fingerprinted

The evidence pack, including photos, maps, field notes, and required check sheets, is compiled into a single record set and sealed with a digital fingerprint. Any later change to the record set changes the fingerprint. Records are retained for the minimum period stated in the governing agreements and applicable policy.

Pack compiled, fingerprint recorded, record retained under the governing agreements.

Independent acceptance officer signs the gate

An acceptance officer checks the evidence pack against the acceptance lines set for the programme. The outcome is recorded as accept, accept with minor fix, or retry. Releases follow recorded acceptance under the published rules.

Acceptance recorded against defined checks, outcome stored with the evidence.

HEKTO releases to the farmer's payee wallet

When acceptance is recorded and integrity checks pass, a release can execute from the correct programme wallet under the published rules. Retention, where applicable, is held and released only at the milestones set out for the programme. Every release is recorded as a dated line item linked to the accepted evidence pack.

Acceptance recorded, integrity checks pass, release follows published rules, statement line created.

Stream 2, The HektoBag (bonus income on top)

This is an additional, optional earning layer that applies only where an environmental method and its rules are active for the programme. It is separate from Works payments and does not reduce Works payments already received. The method and settlement rules for this layer are governed by the applicable specifications and the Cycle Notice.

🌱

Land heals. Evidence records it.

Where an environmental method applies, accepted ecological results are recorded using defined methods and acceptance checks.

📋

Rules are published before they apply.

Any conversion, allocation, or settlement rule is published in advance for the programme. Nothing is decided after the fact.

📅

Year after year, where the method applies.

Where the method remains active and evidence continues to pass acceptance, outcomes can be recorded over time under the published rules.

🤝

Small farms can participate fairly.

Where pooling is permitted, the pooling rules are published for the period and applied consistently.

MamaDEX Centres can be supported through programme rules that are published for the cycle. Local farm funding and regional or community funding are kept separate, with each governed by its own published allocations and acceptance requirements.

Why It Cannot Be Faked

Six locks on every claim.

A Viridian in Frankfurt needs to show a regulator that the restoration is real. Not promised. Not estimated. Real. Here are the six things that make the evidence chain hold up to scrutiny.

01

BESCO, the factual baseline

Before any work begins, Buktika walks the land and records exactly what exists today. Photos. GPS lines. Soil notes. Cover measurements. This is the opening record that every future improvement is measured against. No one else can conduct it. No one can claim improvement from a condition that was never properly recorded.

On-site survey · GPS-anchored · Digital fingerprint · STE-logged before site access
02

The signed Charter

Every 90-day programme is governed by a signed Charter. The exact methods. The exact proof required. The exact acceptance gates at Day 30, Day 90, Day 180, and Year One. Neither the farmer nor Buktika can change the rules after the fact. The Charter is the contract, and the contract is what the acceptance officer checks against.

Methods locked · Gates fixed · Signed by both parties
03

The digital fingerprint

Every evidence pack, including photos, maps, field notes, and consent forms, is compiled into a single record set and sealed with a digital fingerprint. Any later change to the record set changes the fingerprint. The STE vault records the fingerprint at the moment of submission. No alteration can go undetected. Records are retained for the minimum period stated in the governing agreements and applicable policy.

Hash on every pack · Vault-recorded timestamp · Retained under governing agreements
04

The independent acceptance officer

Payment is not released because someone says the work is done. Payment is released because an acceptance officer, who is independent of Buktika management, independent of the farmer, and independent of the Fellows, physically checks the pack against the Charter and signs the gate. No acceptance, no payment. There is no other path.

Independent of all parties · Charter-checked · Signed gate required before release
05

Tika-governed measurement and assurance

Measurement, reporting, and verification methods are defined in the governing specification before work starts. Fixed photo points. Named polygons. Survival plots. Cover transects. Erosion pin readings. The Tika Standard routes each claim to the evidence and assurance basis it actually requires; relevant ISO standards are invoked only where the claim type calls for them.

Claim-specific route · Methods fixed in advance · Repeatable evidence · Organised for independent review
06

The smart contract

The payment rule is set before work begins. When acceptance is recorded and integrity checks pass, the release executes under the published rules. No party can redirect the release outside the rule set for the programme.

Rule set before work starts · Auto-executes on verified acceptance · No manual override

Why this matters for the Viridian. When that regulator in Frankfurt opens the evidence file, she can review GPS-located photos from a named point, a survival count from a named plot, a digital fingerprint that proves nothing was changed, and an acceptance sheet signed by someone she can call. That is not a brochure. It is an audit trail.

Where The Money Goes

Two ledgers. They never mix.

Every HEKTO that enters the system is tracked from the moment it arrives to the moment it lands in a payee wallet. The farm's money and the community's money run in completely separate ledgers, same Viridian, same programme, two separate paths.

Local Restoration Journey (LRJ)

The farm ledger

This is the farmer's programme. Viridian funding flows directly into the farm's project wallets. The platform fee and wallet allocations for the period are applied as published in the Cycle Notice. Funds are distributed across the programme wallets according to rules locked before commitments open.

Hard rule: LRJ funds never flow out to the regional programme. The farmer sees every release on the app as a dated line tied to an accepted evidence pack.

Regional Restoration Journey (RRJ)

The community ledger

This is the district programme. A separate Viridian commitment funds six regional wallets: Works (shared restoration corridors), Professional Services & Measurement, Retention, MamaDEX Centres, Storybook (honest storytelling), and Education. The platform fee and wallet allocations are applied as published in the Cycle Notice.

Hard rule: RRJ funds never flow back to the farm. MamaDEX Centres, Fellows, and Reporters are paid from this side only.

LRJ, programme wallet allocations are published per cycle before commitments open.
